Book Hero Magic crafted this summary to help describe this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Summary
A (Limited edition, Bilingual) presents a unique fusion of typography and personal history. Created by Franz Erhard Walther, the book features typographical fonts without diagonals crafted in 1958 at the Werkkunstschule in Offenbach. Each page pairs a hand-drawn letter from Walther's Work Sets with a visual memory from his life between 1954 and 1973, including moments such as encounters with Reiner Ruthenbeck and Jörg Immendorff, and his first exhibition at MoMA in New York. The book itself is conceived as a work of art, blending text, image, and memory across bilingual German and English editions.

Conceived and designed by Walther, A is an artist's book in which a letter (derived from his Work Sets series) faces a scene from the artist's life between 1954 and 1973, such as an encounter with Jsrg Immendorff or his first show at MoMA.MoMA.

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

In 1958, at the Werkkunstschule in Offenbach, Franz Erhard Walther devised a typographical font without any diagonals. In this artist's book, he uses so-called Work Sets to form a letter on each page, facing a scene from his life between 1954 to 1973 on the opposite page—an encounter with Reiner Ruthenbeck and Jörg Immendorff, for example, or his first show at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Paging through, four sequential Work Sets make an appearance, including "The Body Draws" and "Sculptural Memory". On the left side, a hand-drawn letter in a mutable yellow, and on the right, a drawing of a recollection originating in his photographic memory. This book, conceived and designed by the artist himself, is itself a work of art.

Limited edition of 750 copies. Bilingual: German and English.
