Each of the species covered — Little Spotted Kiwi, Brolga, King Penguin, Helmeted Hornbill, Grey-headed Woodpecker, Tui, Golden Whistler, Vinous-throated Parrotbill, Wood Thrush, Blue Rock-thrush, Common Nightingale, and Song Sparrow — has a short description explaining some fascinating facts about that bird, plus a handful of beautiful colour photographs illustrating the subject.

Uniquely, and separating A First Book of Beautiful Bird Songs from other bird song books, the reader can press the relevant button on the panel on the side of the book and a burst of the bird's song will be played via the built-in speaker.

Insert new button cell batteries (2 x LR44) as shown in the polarity diagram (+/+) on the battery compartment cover. Replace the battery compartment cover, replace and tighten the fixing screw. Small components may present a choking hazard.
