Meanwhile, Kate's husband, Dex, is tasked with finding the perfect birthday gift for their son. However, his attention is divided; a looming financial issue at work occupies his thoughts. As troubling reports start to surface from key locations throughout the city, and the increasing sounds of sirens become impossible to ignore, the question arises: are their day-to-day lives on the verge of a dramatic upheaval?
