There are three things that make a country walk a classic – unbeatable scenery, a route that’s just the right length and a pub or tearoom to treat yourself. You’ll find the best of all three here.
Covering every corner of the UK, these 100 walks include rolling hills, dramatic mountains, marvellous meadows, sun-dappled woods and spectacular coastline. They explore fascinating places from our history too, from country houses and castles to romantic ruins and ancient stone circles.
From Cornwall to the Lake District, from the Midlands to the Highlands, these walks come in different lengths, and most are a manageable 6 miles or less. Each one has comprehensive directions plus an overview map. There’s transport information on reaching the walk and parking.
And of course there are suggestions for great places to stay nearby and perfect places to stop along the route – not only cosy pubs and pretty tearooms, but seaside chippies and relaxed cafes too. After all, there’s nothing like country air for giving you an appetite.
