Alison Mackey is Professor of Linguistics and Headof the Applied Linguistics Programs at Georgetown University. Shehas published ten books, including ConversationalInteraction in Second Language Acquisition (2007), andmore than 50 articles and book chapters on second language learningby children and adults. Susan M. Gass is University Distinguished Professor andDirector of both the English Language Center and the SecondLanguage Studies Ph.D. Program at Michigan State University. She has published widely in the field of second languageacquisition, including Second Language Acquisition: AnIntroductory Course with Larry Selinker (2008), and has servedas the president of AAAL and of AILA.
