Sola Owonibi, who provides the introduction, is an award-winning African poet and playwright, as well as a professor of African literature. His research encompasses Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, and African oral literature, along with literature and healing. Owonibi is a research scholar at the Centre for African Studies at the University of Florida, a postdoctoral fellow with the American Council of Learned Societies/African Humanities Program, and a laureate of CODESRIA Meaning-making Research Initiatives. He is a member of the African Literature Association, African Studies Association, and the International Society for Oral Literature of Africa.
