The Sanatorium took you to the Alps and chilled you to the bone. Now, The Wilds will take you deep into the woods... and out there, it's easy to get lost.

The Wilds by Sarah Pearse is an evocative and engrossing thriller set in the depths of a Portuguese national park. After the traumatic events of her childhood, Kier Templer has been living life on the road, far away from her hometown and twin sibling. The two have managed to stay in touch, until one fateful trip to the national park, where Kier mysteriously vanishes without a trace.

Detective Elin Warner arrives at the park seeking solace and a retreat from her own troubles, only to be confronted with Kier's disappearance. A chilling map left behind by Kier raises more questions than answers, and the elusive strangers at the isolated campstonewall Elin's enquiries. The once magnificent wilderness soon turns sinister, and it becomes evident that Elin is not just solving a missing person's case, but delving into the dark unknown.

As Elin begins to untangle the web of clues left in Kier's wake, she must navigate the treacherous terrain and hidden dangers that lurk in the woods. Each discovery inches her closer to the truth but also places her in greater peril. When following a trail, one must always be vigilant, for danger can strike from the shadows.
