An honest, accessible illustrated guide, designed to help children understand and cope with changes that happen during and after parental separation or divorce.
Families come in all sorts of unique shapes and sizes. Sometimes, the adults in a family might decide they don't want to be in a relationship with each other any longer, and this means that life will change, not only for them, but for any children they parent together.
Splitting Up, written in consultation with a clinical psychologist, is a gentle, inclusive, and reassuring book that explores a wide range of separation and divorce scenarios. The aim is to help children understand that separation looks different for every family.
This book includes consultancy provided by clinical psychologist and author Dr Lucy Maddox. It is packed with tips to help children navigate their feelings and explore different ways to cope. Topics covered include changes in living arrangements, navigating milestones such as birthdays and celebrations, and meeting new partners. There is also a further reading section exploring more complex topics such as refuges and limited or non-contact arrangements.
