Medicinal plants produce a huge range of specialized metabolites (or phytochemicals) with bioactive properties often in response to environmental cues or stresses. Some of these molecules have the potential to be exploited as pharmaceuticals. Omics-Driven Research in Medicinal Plants explores the transformative role of omics technologies - genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and epigenomics - in unlocking the therapeutic potential of medicinal plants. These technologies offer powerful tools for understanding and controlling the genetic and biological aspects of medicinal plants. Its scope spans foundational omics principles, multi-omics integration, precision breeding, metabolic engineering, and emerging frontiers such as AI-driven drug design and CRISPR-omics. By emphasizing sustainability, the book addresses climate-resilient cultivation, ethical bioprospecting, and conservation strategies, while advancing applications in drug discovery, functional foods, and ethnopharmacology. Researchers in medicinal plants, plant biotechnology, pharmacognosy, and systems biology, as well as policymakers and industry practitioners, will find this of value.
