About the Author

Phil Cummings has published over eighty books for children, from picture books to novels, in a career spanning over thirty years. He has received a number of honours and awards for his work both in Australia and overseas, including a number of CBCA Notable Books, Shortlisting and Honour Book awards. His book BOY, illustrated by Shane Devries, was named by the International Board of Books for Young People (IBBY) as an outstanding book for children with disabilities. BOY also won the Children’s Peace Literature Award in 2017. His book Feathers, illustrated by Phil Lesnie, was shortlisted for the Prime Minister’s Literary Awards in 2018.

Prue Pittock is an award winning illustrator from Melbourne, Australia. Her journey into illustration began with designing and illustrating album covers. In 2021 her illustrated nonfiction book, 'Matthew Flinders: Adventures On Leaky Ships' written by celebrated author Carole Wilkinson, was shortlisted for the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) Eve Pownall award, and this year 'River to Bay’ also written by Carole Wilkinson was awarded a Notable book of 2024.

Her work includes fiction and nonfiction picture books using traditional and digital techniques. Prue has illustrated nine books. Her first written and illustrated book ‘10 Baby Bunnies’ is due for release in April 2024.
