Explore parks around the world—and how they welcome us—in this gorgeously illustrated nonfiction picture book, a companion to Marc Majewski’s acclaimed Bridges.

Parks can be big or small, quiet or loud, sunny or snowy. Parks protect the natural world, but they’re also public spaces where anyone can explore, gather, and play. Whether they’re wildlife reserves or your local dog park, wide open spaces or places of quiet in the city, deep in a canyon or just around the corner, parks can be a refuge.

With poetic text and sweeping illustrations, Marc Majewski delivers a unique, accessible look at parks all around the world: from Central Park to the Serengeti to the Great Barrier Reef and everything in between. Both informational and awe-inspiring, this gorgeously illustrated nonfiction picture book shows how parks of all kinds bring people, animals, and nature together.

About the Author

Marc Majewski is an award-winning illustrator and picture book maker. Marc spent his childhood in the Alps, surrounded by lakes and forests, which deeply influenced his work. Nature plays a significant role in his books. It is often depicted as vast, rich, and colorful, always serving as a source of wonder or a refuge. He has written and illustrated several books, including Bridges, Parks, and Butterfly Child, which has been translated into more than ten languages. Using mostly paint or ink to create his illustrations, Marc’s style is characterized by sweeping strokes and bright colors. His work has been displayed in many exhibitions around the world, including the Bologna Children’s Book Fair “Illustrators Exhibition” and the Society of Illustrators “The Original Art,” as well as in newspapers such as Internazionale, Süddeutsche Zeitung, and The Telegraph. Today, Marc lives and works in Berlin.
