Pirate Pat
The first title in the new "Usborne Very First Reading" series, designed for younger children to introduce them to reading together with their parents. Parents and children take turns to read from the page (the text clearly marked for who should be reading) and as the books progress in the series the adults read less and the child more.
The humorous and lively rhyming story of Pirate Pat follows the adventures of Pirate Pat as he searches for treasure under Granny's house. This is the first title in the new Usborne Very First Reading series, designed to introduce reading to younger children alongside their parents.
Suitable for ages 4 and up, this exciting story aims to inspire very beginner readers. It is based on the principles of synthetic phonics and supports the "Letters and Sounds" programme used in thousands of UK primary schools.
The book encourages adult and child participation by taking turns to read, with the child's text using only the letters s, a, t, p, i, n, m, and d. Fun puzzles are included to test understanding and provide opportunities for discussion and further reading practice.
