Agatha Raisin and a Spoonful of Poison
Agatha gets herself into a very sticky situation in her 19th adventure, complete with brand new cover design.
No wonder she's been crowned Queen of Cosy Crime Mail on Sunday
Agatha Raisin and a Spoonful of Poison follows Agatha Raisin, whose detective agency has become so successful that she decides to take time off for rest and relaxation. However, she quickly realises that when she has time on her hands, she doesn't know what to do with it. It doesn't take much for the vicar of a nearby village to persuade her to help publicise the church fete, especially when the event organiser, George Selby, turns out to be a handsome widower.
Agatha attracts crowds to the fete, but soon discovers that thereβs more happening than innocent village fun. Several offerings in the jam-tasting booth are poisoned, transforming the festivities into the scene of two murders.
Along with her young assistant, Toni, Agatha must uncover the truth behind the jam tampering, ensure the safety of the church funds, and unearth the dark secrets hidden in the village. All this while attempting to flirt with the charming George, who probably has a few secrets of his own!
Praise for the Agatha Raisin series:
'M.C. Beaton's imperfect heroine is an absolute gem' Publishers Weekly
'Clever red herrings and some wicked unfinished business guarantees that the listener will pant for a sequel' The Times (audio review)
