Discover the intricate tapestry of The Hidden Girl, a captivating narrative woven by global number one bestselling author Lucinda Riley, and reimagined by Harry Whittaker. This mesmerising novel unfurls a tale of love, betrayal, and destiny, set against the atmospheric backdrop of the Yorkshire moors and the cosmopolitan allure of the world's fashion capitals.

Leah Thompson, a young woman of extraordinary beauty, has grown up in the tranquility of a small village on the Yorkshire moors. Her idyllic life takes an unexpected turn when she catches the eye of the influential and troubled Delancey family. This encounter sets her on a path that will change her life irrevocably, entwining her fate with dark secrets and powerful forces that span generations.

With her striking looks and magnetic presence, Leah ascends the dizzying heights of the modelling world. From the fashion runways of Milan and London to the glamour of New York, she lives a life of luxury and acclaim. However, the shadows of her past loom large, as she becomes entangled in the haunting saga of two young siblings in Poland during the tumultuous days of the Second World War.

The narrative interlaces Leah's present-day challenges with the poignant history of a family torn apart by war. As buried secrets threaten to surface and unravel the lives of those involved, Leah is confronted by a long-forgotten prophecy that foretells a fateful destiny. She must summon all her strength to defy the stars and carve out a new future for herself.

Before she penned the internationally acclaimed The Seven Sisters series, Lucinda Riley first told Leah's story under the title Hidden Beauty, using her maiden name, Lucinda Edmonds. Now, this standalone novel has been meticulously reworked and enriched by Harry Whittaker, Lucinda's son and co-author of Atlas: The Story of Pa Salt, bringing new depth and vitality to the timeless tale.

The Hidden Girl is a rich and evocative journey through time, brimming with emotional intensity and lyrical prose. It is a testament to the enduring power of love and the unyielding human spirit, revealing that destiny, while seemingly set in the stars, can indeed be rewritten.

About the Author

Lucinda Riley was born in 1965 in Ireland and, after an early career as an actress in film, theatre and television, wrote her first novel aged twenty-four. Her books have been translated into forty languages and continue to strike an emotional chord with cultures all around the world. The Seven Sisters series specifically has become a global phenomenon, creating its own genre, and there are plans to create a multi-season TV series. Her books have been nominated for numerous awards, including the Italian Bancarella Prize, the Lovely Books Award in Germany and the Romantic Novel of the Year Award. In 2020, she received the Dutch Platinum Award for sales over 300,000 copies for a single novel in one year - a prize last won by J. K. Rowling for Harry Potter. In collaboration with her son Harry Whittaker, she also devised and wrote the Guardian Angels series of books for children. Though she brought up her four children mostly in Norfolk, England, she fulfilled her dream in 2015 of buying a remote farmhouse in West Cork, Ireland, which she always felt was her spiritual home, and this was where her last five books were written. Lucinda was diagnosed with cancer in 2017 and died on 11 June 2021, surrounded by her family.
