Cockroaches is a gripping and intricately woven thriller by acclaimed author Jo Nesbo. The story transports readers to the bustling streets of Bangkok, where the air is thick with tension and secrets. Detective Harry Hole is sent from Norway on a covert mission to navigate the labyrinthine underbelly of the city. His task: to investigate the sudden and suspicious death of the Norwegian ambassador found in a sordid motel room.

As Harry delves deeper into the case, he uncovers a web of deceit and corruption. The ambassador's family is entangled in a complex network of secrets, fraught with danger and hidden motives. Despite the oppressive heat and cultural dissonance, Harry is determined to unravel the truth beneath layers of lies and obstructive silence.

The stakes rise when Harry discovers crucial CCTV footage that could blow the case wide open. However, this breakthrough complicates matters, as the man who provided the footage mysteriously disappears. Harry soon realises that solving the murder is only one facet of the challenges he faces. He must also navigate the perilous terrain of international diplomacy and cover-ups to avoid causing a scandal that could have far-reaching consequences.

In this unfamiliar city, where alliances are fragile and threats omnipresent, Harry struggles to discern friend from foe. His relentless pursuit of justice puts him at odds with powerful adversaries, testing his resilience and cunning at every turn.

Harry Hole is back in a gripping, twist-packed read.

About the Author

Jo Nesbo is one of the world's bestselling crime writers, with The Leopard, Phantom, Police, The Son, The Thirst, Macbeth and Knife all topping the Sunday Times bestseller charts. He's an international number one bestseller and his books are published in 50 languages, selling over 50 million copies around the world.

Before becoming a crime writer, Nesbo played football for Norway's premier league team Molde, but his dream of playing professionally for Spurs was dashed when he tore ligaments in his knee at the age of eighteen. After three years military service he attended business school and formed the band Di Derre ('Them There'). They topped the charts in Norway, but Nesbo continued working as a financial analyst, crunching numbers during the day and gigging at night. When commissioned by a publisher to write a memoir about life on the road with his band, he instead came up with the plot for his first Harry Hole crime novel, The Bat.
