Uplifting and unputdownable, an illustrated coming-of-age verse novel about family, mental health and the healing power of music.
The Silver Chain tells the story of Azadeh, a budding violinist on a music scholarship at an expensive private school. She navigates the usual trials of being sixteen: trying her best to fit in, keep up, and have fun.
However, when her mum's mental health spirals out of control, Azadeh's world starts to unravel. Her friendships fall away, and despite efforts by her and her dad to maintain normalcy, their problems persistently surface. Feeling isolated, it is her violin that guides Azadeh back to her friends, herself, and even her mum.
This beautifully packaged novel is highly important and irresistible, shedding light on mental health struggles and the solace found in music, rhythm, friendship, family, and honesty. The book is illustrated throughout, adding a visual depth to Azadeh's journey.
