The classic and terrifying story of one of the most famous supernatural events--the infamous possessed house on Long Island from which the Lutz family fled in 1975.
The Amityville Horror is "a fascinating and frightening book" (Los Angeles Times) that tells the bestselling true story of a house possessed by evil spirits, haunted by psychic phenomena almost too terrible to describe.
In December 1975, the Lutz family moved into their new home on suburban Long Island. George and Kathleen Lutz knew that, one year earlier, Ronald DeFeo had murdered his parents, brothers, and sisters in the house. Yet, the property's featuresโcomplete with a boathouse and swimming poolโand the attractive price were too tempting to resist.
Twenty-eight days later, the entire Lutz family fled in terror.
This is the spellbinding and shocking true story that captivated the nation, depicting an American dream that turned into a nightmare beyond imagining. As noted by the Kansas City Star, "this book will scare the hell out of you."
