Three interconnecting short stories starring Ernest Hemingway comprise the latest graphic novel by the beloved Norwegian cartoonist, Jason.
Good Night, Hem by Jason presents three interconnecting short stories in graphic novel form, featuring Ernest Hemingway.
In the first story set in Paris, 1925, Hemingway encounters Athos, the last Musketeer. Together with several friends, they journey to Pamplona, Spain for the fiesta, where festivities and complications ensue.
The second story takes place in Paris, 1944, the day after its liberation. Hemingway, now a war correspondent, decides he's had enough and takes action to end the war for good. Alongside a group of adventurers and resistance fighters, he parachutes into Germany with this mission in mind.
The final narrative unfolds in Cuba in the late 1950s. Here, our literary lion is in his twilight years, writing his memoirs and reflecting on his past meetings with the seemingly immortal Athos.
Mixing fact and fiction, Jason has imaginatively recreated one of Americaβs greatest and most controversial writers of the 20th century.

The New York Times highlights the three interconnected stories across Hemingwayβs favourite locales: Pamplona, Paris, and Cuba. Bookmunch calls it tremendously thoughtful and fun, possibly Jasonβs best work to date. Publishers Weekly notes its quirky and witty take with fantastical elements, while Library Journal awarded a starred review for its melancholic yet sympathetic portrayal.
