To Kill A Mockingbird

I see this book, once a part of school curriculum, missing from our public library.

I have seen some scathing reviews of this book, calling it racist, and denigrating it to a book written through a 'white lens' - for the later to be true, it would assume the book is completely hypocritical, in of itself, not to mention, the statement is ironically, racist, in it's very nature.

On the surface it is incredibly questionable, with N bombs, dropped but, as difficult as it can be to process, it is in the context of the times, not necessarily of when it was written, nor of the authors opinion, but of the times, places, and some of the people, it was written about.

Looking deeper, it is anything, but racist, and so much more.

I believe this book is an important part of The Great Conversation, which, comprises (or needs to) of voices, from all around the world.

'You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.'

To Kill a Mockingbird - Lee Harper

This book may just be one person's voice, but one voice is all any of us have, as we all move into, and contribute to the future.

I think it is well worth a read, if only to form your own opinion, in a world, where we run the risk of canceling a book, to reduce our carbon footprint.
