Events need to be planned, designed and delivered bearing in mind the triple bottom line (TBL) of profit, planet and people, while also addressing the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Sustainability in Events Management looks at:

– Planning an event with sustainable objectives, from considering the demands of the client and various other stakeholders to choosing a venue.

– Designing the event, including choosing the décor, theme, programming and catering, while ensuring the TBL and SDGs are met.

– Delivering and evaluating the event to ensure sustainability objectives are met and improved upon for future events, including measuring long-term impacts.

– The broader issues impacting sustainability, including social and economic factors.

With in-text learning features such as learning outcomes, reflective questions, interviews with event managers and practitioners, and a glossary of key terms, this textbook will equip students with the tools to plan and deliver successful events. Real-world examples are included from a variety of global and local contexts, for both adult and children's events, such as the Paris 2024 Olympics, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Secret Garden Party.

Sustainability in Events Management is ideal for upper-level undergraduate and postgraduate students studying Tourism, Hospitality and Events Management.
