About the Author

David Metzenthen lives in Melbourne. He was an advertising copywriter before turning to fiction, and a builder's labourer to support his first twenty years as a writer for young people. David is a below-average surfer, a keen fly fisherman, and a conservationist. He tries to write stories that will engage, entertain, and be worthy of the reader's time. The natural world is where he likes to spend time, and he supports various environmental foundations. David hopes to write the perfect book, knows it will never happen, but works in hope... He is married to Fiona and has two children. He has travelled overseas but is inspired by this country, its people, and has always aimed to contribute to its literature and literacy.
Jonathan Bentley is the illustrator of over forty wonderful picture books (nine of which he wrote), including Ella and the Ocean by Lian Tanner (Winner Patricia Wrightson Prize for Children's Literature, NSW Premier's Literary Awards 2020), Windows and The Second Sky by Patrick Guest (CBCA Shortlist 2018), Tales from a Tall Forest by Shaun Micallef, First Day by Andrew Daddo, Blue Sky Yellow Kite by Janet A Holmes, and Mo & Crow by Jo Kasch, and Cat and Dog, Bad Bunny and Where is Bear?
