Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

Goad Omen is Corey Wakeling's first full-length collection of poems, offering a vibrant and witty interplay of depths and resurfacings. It portrays a world littered with grim foreshadowings and kitschy memorabilia alike.

Traversing fable and found object, hearsay and gainsay, intrigue and abstraction, its characters are immersed in natural and urban 'landscapes of peril'β€”whether in Melbourne, Glasgow, Rottnest Island, or Japan.

His poetry exhibits a strong sense of community and converses with a wide range of poets and writers while maintaining an acute awareness of the absurd and the extreme. Fuelled by a mad energy, his 'omens' are calamitous, intoxicating, ribald, yet always tender and surprising at their core.

Corey Wakeling resides in Melbourne. He is a PhD student and tutor at the University of Melbourne, the reviews editor of the magazine Rabbit, and the interviews editor of Cordite Poetry Journal.
