Murtagh
From the masterful pen of internationally bestselling author Christopher Paolini comes Murtagh, an epic new fantasy that will sweep you back into the World of Eragon. Set a year after the dramatic events of the Inheritance Cycle, this enthralling narrative continues the legacy of a land forever changed by war and magic. The story transports readers to a realm where former allies and enemies must navigate the tenuous peace left in the wake of a fallen tyrant.
The world is now a perilous place for Murtagh, the Dragon Rider, and his fierce dragon, Thorn. After playing a reluctant yet pivotal role in the reign of the evil king, they find themselves outcasts, shunned and reviled by those who once revered them. Their solitude is pierced by the unsettling whispers wafting through the land—hushed voices speak of brittle ground and the sinister scent of brimstone tainting the air. These ominous signs compel Murtagh to confront a lingering evil that hides in the shadows of Alagaësia.
Setting off on a formidable quest, Murtagh and Thorn journey through both familiar and uncharted territories, their path fraught with danger and discovery. They are pitted against dark forces beyond their understanding and encounter a mysterious witch whose true nature is more formidable than they could ever predict. To outwit her, Murtagh must rely on every weapon in his arsenal—his intellect, his courage, and the unbreakable bond he shares with Thorn.
Christopher Paolini crafts a gripping tale that holds readers on the edge of their seats, exploring themes of redemption, identity, and the enduring struggle between light and dark. Murtagh delves deeply into the character’s emotional and psychological battles as he strives to define his place in a world that has seemingly forsaken him.
Whether you are a longtime fan of the Inheritance Cycle or a newcomer eager to dive into the fantastical world of Eragon, Murtagh promises an unforgettable journey filled with adventure, magic, and heart-pounding suspense. It is more than just a return to Alagaësia; it is a profound exploration of what it means to rise from the ashes of the past and forge a new destiny.

About the Author
Christopher Paolini was born in Southern California and lived most of his life in Paradise Valley, Montana. The tall, jagged Beartooth Mountains that rise on one side of Paradise Valley inspired the fantastic scenery in Eragon, the first novel in his Inheritance Cycle. Christopher's journey to becoming a globally beloved publishing phenomenon is as magical as the fantasy novels he writes. Christopher was homeschooled by his parents and often wrote short stories and poems, made frequent trips to the library, and read widely. He was fifteen when he wrote the first draft of Eragon and his family self-published the book in 2001. In August 2003, Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers published Eragon and it was an instant success, reaching a worldwide audience. Christopher's second novel Eldest was published in 2005, followed by Brisingr in 2008. Inheritance, the fourth and final book in the cycle released in November 2011. Additional titles in The World of Eragon include Eragon's Guide to Alagaesia and The Fork, The Witch, and the Worm. Today, the Inheritance Cycle is available in more than 50 countries, and together the four books in the series (Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, Inheritance) have sold more than 40 million copies worldwide.
