And I Paint It

"A picture-book biography of painter Henriette Wyeth, depicting a day in her childhood, learning how to paint and be inspired from her father, painter N. C. Wyeth"--

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

A poetic picture-book biography about artist N.C. Wyeth's daughter, Henriette, a talented painter in her own right.

And I think of the girl I am and the girl I'll be:
A painter, like Pa.
An actress (maybe).
A fairy with wings.

A father and daughter sneak away from their big, busy family to paint in the wild landscape. Together, they paint a lily, bright and white as a star; the green growing into the cap of a strawberry; the blue in the sky running pink. Henriette's father is N.C. Wyeth, the famous artist, who encourages her to paint what she sees, to awaken into her dreams, and she does, in this poetic picture book inspired by a famous American family of artists.

And I Paint It offers an intimate look into the life and inspiration of a girl who dreams beyond the canvas, intertwining the beauty of art and family.

Book Hero Magic summarised reviews for this book. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! HOW HAS THIS BEEN REVIEWED?

Beth Kephart's And I Paint It receives acclaim for its dreamlike, stream-of-consciousness writing that echoes Virginia Woolf, while beautifully depicting a young artist's world. The book is praised for its evocative prose and rich sensory descriptions, which capture the lush landscapes and the blossoming creative spirit of Henriette Wyeth. Illustrations complement the narrative by vividly portraying the natural beauty of Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania.
