Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

In Rivers of London: The Fey and the Furious by Ben Aaronovitch, trouble never lies far from the race track. When a flashy car belonging to a young street racer from England washes up on the shores of the Netherlands, complete with a bag full of unusual cargo, it's clear that something far more sinister is occurring at the street races held in an Essex car park.

Enter Detective Inspector Peter Grant. Fresh from a suspension, he dives into the high-octane world of illegal street racing under the guise of a participant. Armed with his orange 'asbo' Ford Focus, Peter is determined to infiltrate the upper echelons of this underground scene. However, what starts as a seemingly routine investigation quickly spirals into the extraordinary as Peter finds himself thrust into an Otherworldly realm – a real-life fairyland where the rules of nature and the boundaries of reality are distorted.

In his quest to uncover the truth, Peter traverses the murky territories between our world and the mystical. He encounters a multitude of fascinating characters, both human and fae, and faces challenges that test not just his detective skills but also his ability to navigate the arcane and the mundane. The novel intricately weaves thrilling car chases, magical intrigue, and the gritty reality of London's streets, all against the backdrop of Aaronovitch's signature wit and narrative style.

Rivers of London: The Fey and the Furious is a ride filled with fast cars, dark enchantments, and a myriad of twists that will leave readers eagerly turning the pages. Join DI Peter Grant as he ventures deep into a world where folklore and reality collide, and nothing is quite as it seems.

About the Author

Ben Aaronovitch is perhaps best known for his series of Peter Grant novels, which began with Rivers of London. Mixing police procedural with urban fantasy and London history, these novels, the latest of which is Lies Sleeping, have sold over a million copies worldwide. A new novella in the series, The October Man, will also be available soon. Ben is also known for his TV writing, writing fan-favourite episodes of Doctor Who; 'Remembrance of the Daleks' - in which he originated the Counter-Measures characters who appear in this story - and 'Battlefield'. He wrote an episode of BBC hospital drama, Casualty, and contributed to cult SF show, Jupiter Moon. Andrew Cartmel began a long and varied career in TV and publishing when he was hired as script editor on Doctor Who in 1986. He had a major (and very positive) impact on the final years of the original run of the TV show. He has recently completed a comedy for the London stage, Screwball, and is also writing the Vinyl Detective series of crime novels for Titan Books; the fourth, Flip Back, will be available soon. In his spare time, he likes to do stand-up comedy.
