See moreJack Kamen stood out amongst the other artists at EC Comics due to his clean, clutter-free style. Yet the content of his stories was never less than engagingly odd, and this collection brings together his finest moments.
With his wholesome approach, Jack Kamen stood out amongst the grunge, gritty realism or futuristic dazzle of his fellow EC cartoonists. However, his brilliant editor/writer Al Feldstein found a way to exploit the surface innocence of his style with seemingly nice stories of romance gone horribly wrong or future fantasies with an unexpectedly brutal twist.
Zero Hour and Other Stories reprints 22 of their classic sci-fi yarns from the EC Comics Weird Science and Weird Fantasy, with biographical, historical and critical essays to support the original material.

About the Author
Albert B. Feldstein (1928-2014; Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame, 2003) was a triple-threat writer, artist, and editor, renowned for his work on such titles as Weird Science, Tales From the Crypt, and Mad magazine. He received the Bram Stoker Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. The Brooklyn-born Jack Kamen (1920-2008) began his career as a pulp illustrator and spent his last professional decades as an illustrator, but is best remembered for his half-decade at EC (and his 1982 contributions to the EC-inspired movie Creepshow). Gary Groth is the co-founder of The Comics Journal and Fantagraphics Books. He lives in Seattle.
