Zoning Rules! explores how local communities in the United States have overused zoning laws to restrict new housing developments. This overregulation contributes to urban sprawl and worsens social inequality. William A. Fischel traces the history, motivations, and structure of municipal zoning, examining its broad impact on cities and suburbs. The book also proposes more effective regulatory approaches for developers and public officials, making it a crucial read on urban planning and land-use policy.
