Weegee: Serial Photographer introduces us to a street photographer renowned in New York's popular press during the 1940s. Weegee became infamous for adjusting dead bodies at crime scenes to craft more aesthetically pleasing photographs.

Authors Wauter Mannaert and Max de Radigues masterfully capture the contrasts of Weegee's life through pictures: the constant dilemma of choosing between his violin and photography; the streets and neighbourhoods of New York that he both cherished and longed to leave; and his photographs, which found a place in popular press but truly deserved gallery walls.

This approach turns the creator of the book Naked City into a relatable, flesh-and-blood figure, making his tragic fate all the more impactful. Mannaert's artistic style, with its distinctive black-and-white drawings, perfectly encapsulates Weegee's hectic life, giving the impression of accompanying him through New Yorkโ€™s iconic Lower East Side some eighty years ago.
