The extraordinary Vicky and Marcos Micha Levy Collection and its masterpieces

This publication honours Mexican collectors Vicky and Marcos Micha Levy, tracing their extraordinary artistic journey and revealing how, over fifty years, they established a collection of the highest calibre.

Driven by a keen sense of research, an infallible eye, deep knowledge, and a passion for seeking out great prizes, they amassed works spanning the development of modernity in Mexico. Their collection includes prevalent figures of Modernism and the national avant-garde, such as JosΓ© Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, Manuel RodrΓguez Lozano, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Rufino Tamayo, Wifredo Lam, and Roberto Matta. These are juxtaposed with pioneers in modern art featuring major works by Chagall, Picasso, and Duchamp.

Later, their interest focused on contemporary artists such as Allen Jones, David Hockney, Anselm Kiefer, Miquel BarcelΓ³, and Robert Rauschenberg. Other treasures in the Levy Micha collection include Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Berthe Morisot, and Γ‰douard Manet.

Under the direction of Denise Wendel-Poray, the book features essays by the greatest specialists in Latin American art, including Taiyana Pimentel, Ana Elena Mallet, Ana M. Franco, James Oles, Ana GarduΓ±o Ortega, and in modern and contemporary European art, Jonas Storsve.
