'Savage and sweet and entirely strange.' Guardian

Do you want to live in a meadow or by the seaside or far far away where it's never cold and the horses all run up to you begging to be eaten?

An extraordinary, savagely witty debut play.

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

Nominated for the OLIVIER AWARD for Best New Production in an affiliate theatre 2026

'Savage and sweet and entirely strange.' Guardian

Do you want to live in a meadow or by the seaside or far far away where it's never cold and the horses all run up to you begging to be eaten? Only you can't, can you, because you were slow, because you were stupid, because you chose to make your home in a place that could die, and it's died.

Tens of thousands of years ago, in a secluded cave, a family survives by telling stories. When strangers arrive seeking shelter, they will learn that love and violence feed the same fire.

Jack Nicholls's debut play drags us back to the beginnings of who we are. The Shitheads opened at the Royal Court Theatre, London, in February 2026.
