Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

Stories of Traumatic Pasts explores the harrowing histories of Belgian colonialism in the Congo, antisemitism in Austria, and turbo-nationalism in former Yugoslavia. Over the past two centuries, these three historic lines of violence and annihilation have reinforced a process of oblivion that continues to hinder the processing of the genocides they caused. Today, involuntary or performed amnesia threatens to destroy the fragile coexistence that has been achieved.

This catalogue revisits these traumatic events in history and their violent impact on communities, people, states, and territories. It confronts them with a system of interventions, recovering the scars left by atrocities through artistic, scientific, and political reflections, even though they may have been hidden and obliterated.
