Sika always wanted to travel to Ghana with her mother. Their trip is a dream come true, until she's confronted with secrets she hadn't bargained for...
Selom left Ghana twenty-seven years ago in the wake of her husband's death. Her daughter, Sika, has spent her whole life longing to go back to the country where so many of her cousins, aunties and uncles still live, the place her father died and that her mother barely talks about.Β
So when she is given the opportunity to visit Accra for an opulent family party, she jumps at the chance. At first things look better than she could have dared hope for, not least when she meets handsome, charismatic Danso, who takes her under his wing and soon works his way into her heart.
The prospect of returning home to London feels less appealing than ever when the night of the party arrives, and Sika overhears a conversation that will tear her life apart. Her old existenceΒ β with its high-powered job, intense friendships and non-stop hustleΒ β is waiting for her, but Sika feels like an entirely new person. Can she find a way to go home, and still move forward?Β
Sister of Mine is a warm and moving novel about the stories we tell ourselves, and the truths we withhold to protect the people we love.
