See moreSonja is a lighthouse keeper, a gifted mechanic, and an inventor. She lives a quiet life on a remote island with her cat, Victuals. When Victuals vanishes without explanation and then unexpectedly returns, something has changed. The cat now carries the brain of a strange, intelligent lizard-creature from a hidden underwater kingdom.
What follows is a mystery that spirals from the intimateβa girl trying to understand what happened to her companionβinto something far larger: a conflict involving brain transplantation experiments, an ancient civilization of lizard-men living beneath the sea, and the dangerous ambitions of those who wield unchecked power. Sonja must navigate a world she didnβt know existed, protect the people she loves, and confront questions about faith, loyalty, and what it means to truly know someone.
reMIND was created by Jason Brubaker during his time as a Visual Development Artist at DreamWorks Animation, where he worked on films such as Kung Fu Panda 2, Kung Fu Panda 3, The Croods, and Captain Underpants. The graphic novel originally launched as a webcomic in 2009, quickly drawing an audience of over a million readers thanks to its richly detailed, animation-quality artwork and emotionally engaging storytelling.
reMIND: The Complete Edition brings the full story together in a single volume for the first time, presented as an oversized deluxe hardcover. This edition also features exclusive behind-the-scenes material, showcasing Brubakerβs creative processβfrom early thumbnails and layouts to pencils, inks, and final colour work.
The project has earned significant recognition, including the Xeric Award in 2010, a place on the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) Great Graphic Novels for Teens list in 2012, and an Eisner Award nomination in 2020 for Macroverseβs TapStory digital adaptation.

About the Author
Jason Brubaker is an award-winning graphic novelist, Visual Development Artist, and animator. He began his career in 1996 drawing storyboards for feature films including Blade, Pitch Black, and Van Helsing before moving into animation. In 2009, he joined DreamWorks Animation, where he spent five years contributing to Kung Fu Panda 2, Kung Fu Panda 3, The Croods, Penguins of Madagascar, and Captain Underpants. He redesigned the DreamWorks opening logo for Kung Fu Panda 2. In 2009, while working full-time at DreamWorks, Brubaker launched reMIND as a webcomic, releasing one page at a time. The series attracted over a million readers and led to one of the first graphic novel campaigns on Kickstarter (July 2010), which funded in under 48 hours. A second Kickstarter for Volume 2 raised over $107,000. In 2014, Brubaker left DreamWorks to pursue comics full-time. He has since continued work on Phobos, his follow-up graphic novel series, and has raised over $500,000 across multiple crowdfunding campaigns. His work has earned a Xeric Award (2010), ALA/YALSA recognition (2012), and an Eisner Award nomination (2020).
