The ultimate hands-on guide for printmakers of all levels.
Experienced printmaker Jenny Mason-Gunning has created an illustrated ‘recipe’ book for printmakers. It is full of colourful explanatory photos and is the first handbook to provide extensive step-by-step instructions for each step of every process. It is suitable for makers of all levels, from complete beginners to experienced printmakers and teachers, both in their own studio or at home.
All the classic printmaking methods are included: intaglio etching, drypoint, mezzotint, linocut, photographic printmaking, collagraph, woodblock, engraving, monotype, monoprint, and viscosity printing. Each method includes easy-to-follow explanations, required materials, troubleshooting techniques and is peppered with hints and tips to help you throughout your creative journey.
There is also plenty of information on setting up your studio and printing press, preparing your printing paper, hand printing, editioning, framing, and cleaning, plus a comprehensive glossary of specialist terms for easy reference. Advice is also given on traditional inking and wiping techniques and their contemporary shortcuts.
