Pride and Prejudice
Considered by many to be Jane Austen's best work, Pride and Prejudice is a sharp comedy of manners following quick-witted Elizabeth Bennet and the mounting pressures put on her to find a suitable husband. When the aristocratic Mr Darcy enters her society, both must confront their assumptions about the other if they're to find true happiness.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is a classic tale of love overcoming preconceptions, centred on the two eldest daughters of the Bennet family: Jane and Elizabeth.
Elizabeth has to fend off an unwelcome offer of marriage from the Rev. Collins while mistakenly falling for the charms of the dashing Mr Wickham. She eventually realises that appearances are deceptive and that her prejudice against Mr Darcy has blinded her to his real character. Witty, humorous, and ultimately satisfying, this masterpiece of classic fiction has endured for more than two hundred years.
