Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan, Vol. 1, a supernatural saga straight from the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump, follows the life of a 13-year-old boy who is ordinary by day and a leader of a demon clan by night.

While the day belongs to humans, the night is the domain of yokai, supernatural creatures that thrive on human fear. Caught between these worlds is Rikuo Nura, a boy who is three-quarters human. His grandfather, Nurarihyon, is the supreme commander of the Nura clan, a powerful yokai consortium. For most of the time, Rikuo lives as an ordinary teenager, but when his yokai blood awakens, he transforms into the future leader of the Nura clan, commanding a hundred demons.

Rikuo grew up in a house filled with yokai, believing them to be fascinating. However, his classmates view yokai as frightful and malicious. When his grandfather declares Rikuo as his chosen heir to lead the Nura clan, Rikuo struggles between embracing his human side and fulfilling his yokai responsibilities. The clan is sceptical of having a part-human as their ruler, particularly Gagoze, a high-ranking yokai who would prefer to consume a human rather than be led by one.
