Narratives Crossing Boundaries explores the evolving narrative forms in the age of media convergence, focusing on films and games. This transdisciplinary volume examines how games enable participatory storytelling, blurring the lines between the narrated world and the player's reality. Drawing from game studies, media studies, sociology, and psychology, it offers an interdisciplinary approach to understanding storytelling's impact on social discourse and human behaviour.

Book Hero Magic formatted this description to make it easier to read. While it's new and still learning, it may not be perfect - your feedback is welcome! Description

As the dominant narrative forms in the age of media convergence, films and games call for a transmedial perspective in narratology. Games allow a participatory reception of the story, so that the ontological boundary transgression between the narrated world and the world of the recipient comes into focus.

These diverse transgressionsβ€”medial and ontologicalβ€”are the subject of this transdisciplinary compendium, which covers the subject in an interdisciplinary way from various perspectives: game studies and media studies, but also sociology and psychology, to take into account the great influence of storytelling on social discourses and human behaviour.
