Max is an ordinary, slightly scruffy boy with an extraordinary secret: when he burps, he transforms into a huge monster with sword-like teeth, capable of roaring, leaping over buildings, and devouring dustbins. Though he uses his powers to protect and do good, Max's sneezes abruptly revert him back to his boyish self, often far from home and in just his pants. As mysterious destruction unfolds in his quiet suburb, Max must uncover the true cause before his rival Peregrine, armed with a fascinating POOP (portable operating omni prison) machine, captures him.

Monster Max and the Bobble Hat of Forgetting introduces Max, an ordinary, slightly scruffy boy, until he burps. Then, he transforms into a huge monster, with teeth like swords, capable of jumping over buildings, roaring, and eating whole dustbins. Being a monster dedicated to "protecting and doing good stuff" is great fun, until Max sneezes and turns back into a boy again, often far from home and dressed only in his pants.

However, something else is causing a lot of damage in his quiet suburb, and it isn't Max. Trailed by his nemesis, Peregrine, a boy his age who has invented a POOP (portable operating omni prison) machine to catch the monster, Max must find the real culprit before Peregrine captures him...
