Mohamed Hamidi (Bilingual edition) is about the renowned Moroccan artist Mohamed Hamidi, born in 1941. He studied at the Casablanca School of Beaux-Arts before continuing his education in Paris, where he attended the School of Applied Arts and the National School of Fine Arts.
In 1969, Hamidi took part in the celebrated exhibition at Jamaa El-Fna Square, an event that is pivotal in the history of modern art in Morocco. As a founding member of the Moroccan Association of Fine Arts, his artwork has been displayed globally.
Hamidi has worked with notable Moroccan artists such as Melehi, Belkahia, and ChebΓ’a to forge a distinctive form of contemporary art unique to Morocco, liberated from colonial influences. His creations draw heavily on traditional aesthetics and craftsmanship, using these elements to craft fragmented and colourful depictions of the human body.
