Tuttle Publishing
Japanese Wonder Knitting by Nihon Vogue offers a delightful exploration of Japanese knitting techniques, serving as a follow-up to the much-loved Japanese knitting dictionaries that have captivated experienced Western knitters. This book elevates these resources by providing step-by-step lessons in performing classic stitches in the Japanese fashion.
Similar to its companion volume, Japanese Wonder Crochet, this book reveals a fresh approach to traditional stitches such as bubble stitches, herringbone, cockleshell, cables, smocking, and entrelac, among others. A swatch pattern is included for each stitch, enabling knitters to master the mechanics before applying them to larger projects.
The book presents a collection of 23 projects that cater to various levels of time commitment, ensuring there's something for everyone. The projects include:
- Cozy hats and neckwear
- Headbands for warmth and style
- Beautiful clutches and bags
- An amazing entrelac stitch shawl
- Clever bottine liners/ankle warmers
- And so much more!
An introduction by Japanese knitting expert Gayle Roehm provides insights into the stitch charts, alongside explanations of the differences and similarities between Japanese and Western knitting styles. The guide to stitch symbols and comprehensive lessons offer visual support for learners.
With Japanese Wonder Knitting, knitters passionate about Japanese knitwear and patterns will find themselves equipped and inspired to create the exquisite fashions and home goods cherished by many Western knitters.
