How to Connect, Share & Play Safely Online is an important book on how to stay safe online—presented in a fun manga style!

When young people get their first phone, they enter an online world of endless potential but also many real-life risks. This book clearly explains how to become a smart, safe digital citizen. Through an engaging mix of comics and sidebars, preteens and teens learn to navigate threats like bullying, identity theft, sexual grooming, fake news and screen addiction — so they don't become victims of crimes that can have devastating consequences in the real world.

Written by a former police detective with extensive experience investigating digital crimes, this book features infographics, explanations of key terms, real-life examples, and simple guidelines for staying safe online.

Young readers will learn:

  • How to spot fake information and avoid online scams
  • What a "digital tattoo" is, and how to avoid getting one
  • The sneaky tricks scammers use to get your data
  • What photos and information should never be shared
  • And much more!

Comics by Japanese illustrator Popoko have a cool manga aesthetic that appeals to young readers. This is the ideal book for parents who want to start a continuing conversation with their children about how to thrive in today's social media world.
