You can make beautiful, colourful and surprisingly delicate prints by hammering the pigment from flowers and leaves with a mallet – a process known as flower-pounding. These sustainable step-by-step projects – ranging from indigo-leaf table runners to cosmos socks and viola tote bags – show you how to get the best results.
Discover how to grow the most suitable blooms in your garden and forage flowers from the wild. Learn which plants are best for dyeing; how to pre-treat your fabric, paper or wood for bright, long-lasting colour; and which hammers, mallets and techniques work best on particular plants and base materials.
