Gunta Stölzl & Johannes Itten showcases the intertwined legacies of Gunta Stölzl (1897-1983) and the Swiss artist Johannes Itten (1888-1967), both renowned Bauhaus teachers. They collaborated during significant phases of their careers from their time at the Bauhaus in Weimar through to the 1960s. This volume assembles their impressive contributions to the art of textile design in picturesque detail.

Few people are aware that the prominent Swiss Bauhaus master Johannes Itten delved deeply into textile design. This publication invites readers to rediscover him as a textile designer, alongside Bauhaus teacher Gunta Stölzl, who is recognised as a "classic of textile art" in art history. Both artists left Nazi Germany in the 1930s. They not only revitalised textile art in Switzerland with innovative forms and ornamentation, but also established a network of modern Swiss textile art.
