Get your animals in order with this beautiful introduction to animal classification, produced in partnership with the Natural History Museum (NHM)
Get Your Animals in Order: Classifying the Animal World by Michael Bright offers an intriguing exploration of what makes an animal an animal. Produced in partnership with the Natural History Museum (NHM), this book presents a clever and clear explanation of animal classification, aiming to organise your understanding of the animal world and highlight the importance of this system.
From whales to worms and snakes to stinkbugs, every creature ever discovered has been identified and assigned to a group within the animal kingdom. Scientists utilise this classification system to aid research, discover new species, and conserve existing ones. This children's book showcases the amazingly diverse range of animals found around the globe and examines the unique features that determine their place in the animal kingdom.
The narrative unveils the similarities, differences, and connections between various animal groups and reveals how classification helps scientists conserve animals and their habitats.
'Odd-one-out' examples highlight peculiar animals that defy the natural order, such as egg-laying mammals and fish that climb trees, providing a fascinating glimpse into the exceptions within the animal kingdom.
The book also includes a zoology timeline showcasing the influential people and places that have shaped the study of animals over time.
