Commissioned by The Polish American Historical Association (PAHA), which will promote the book aggressively through their scholarly and academic networks as well as through personal connections with Polish organizations across the U.S.

PAHA has over 600 individual members, all involved in local communities with Polish parish organizations, local cultural organizations, and Polish Saturday schools.

There are an estimated 10.5 million Americans of Polish descent (about 3% of Americans), with key populations in Chicago; NYC metro area; Linden, NJ; Milwaukee; and Detroit.

Over 1 million Canadians of Polish descent, with key populations in Ontario (Toronto, Mississauga, and Hamilton).

Over 800,000 Britons of Polish descent, and Polish is the second most spoken language in England. Key populations are in West London and outer boroughs, Birmingham, Southampton, and Slough.

About the Author

Ewa E. Barczyk, emerita, Associate Provost and Director of Libraries, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, serves on the board of the Polish American Historical Association (PAHA). She received her M.A. in Slavic Studies from the University of Kansas and her M.L.I.S. from Southern Connecticut State University. She retired in 2015 from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee where she had been the Associate Provost and Director of Libraries. She is very active in Polish organizations to promote Polish heritage. She is currently President of the Polish American Librarians Association which provides resources and opportunities for librarians to promote Polish materials, culture, history. She is past president and continues to serve on the board of Polanki, the Polish Womenโ€™s Cultural Club of Milwaukee organizing Polish displays and cultural events throughout the community. She resides in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
