Anna Jacob's riveting new Lancashire saga introduces an unforgettable heroine.
Emmy Carter's mother is a prostitute, a fact that has made Emmy determined to avoid the same fate. However, Emmy's beauty attracts unwanted attention; her mother's protector has his eye on her, as does the evil Marcus Armistead, her employer's nephew.
Marcus is excited by Emmy's virginity and has her kidnapped, but Emmy bravely hits him over the head and escapes. Further enraged, Marcus kills her mother and becomes even more determined to harm Emmy. Fortunately, the combined efforts of the local parson and Emmy's young suitor manage to keep her safe from harm.
Finally, Emmy sees Marcus get his just desserts, discovers the identity of her father, and attains the respectability she has so longed for.
Down Weavers Lane is a compelling tale of courage and determination against the odds, set in a world where survival requires resilience and hope.
