Clinical Pain Management explores the multidimensional aspects of pain, including biological, psychological, and social dimensions, all of which warrant attention in clinical management and research. Despite advances in pain management, chronic pain continues to be a significant health concern with many persistent challenges in understanding and managing it.
This revised and updated second edition of Clinical Pain Management: A Practical Guide focuses on these challenges for people living with chronic pain conditions, for clinicians aiming to manage patients' pain effectively, for scientists working to unravel pain mechanisms, and for society as a whole.
The book provides clinicians with an opportunity to enhance their knowledge about pain and apply it to benefit their patients. The second edition builds upon the first, which was notable for its integration of clinical, psychosocial, and basic science topics related to different types of pain and their management. With up-to-date information across 44 chapters, it offers a comprehensive resource on pain from various perspectives.
Clinical Pain Management: A Practical Guide, Second Edition is an invaluable resource not only for clinicians assisting patients with acute or chronic pain but also for scientists seeking deeper insights into these pain conditions and their underlying processes.
