Didier Fassin is the James D. Wolfensohn Professor of SocialScience at the Institute for Advanced Study at PrincetonUniversity. Trained as a physician in internal medicine and publichealth, Fassin dedicated his early research to medicalanthropology, before developing a domain he terms political andmoral anthropology. He is the Director-founder of theInterdisciplinary Research Institute on Social Issues (IRIS,Paris), former Chair of the Social Science and HumanitiesCommittee of the French National Research Agency, and formerVice-President of Medecins sans Frontieres.
