YuYu Hakusho, Vol. 2 by Yoshihiro Togashi tells the tale of Yusuke Urameshi, a tough teen delinquent whose life took an unexpected turn through a selfless act—by ending his own life. After dying while saving a little kid from a speeding car, Yusuke finds himself in the afterlife. Unsure of what to do with him, he is given a second chance at life. Now, Yusuke is a ghost on a mission, performing good deeds under the guidance of Botan, the ferrywoman of the River Styx, and Koenma, the pacifier-sucking judge of the dead.

A few weeks ago, Yusuke was the toughest 8th-grader in his junior high. Now, he faces the toughest test of his existence: the test to determine whether he will come back to life or remain a wandering spirit forever. Until he passes this test, his body remains in a coma, allowing him to return to life for only one day a month. Yusuke and his spirit guide, Botan, face more than they expected, as evil curses, bullies, and the ghost of a menacing little girl obstruct their path to resurrection.

When a fire in the real world threatens the life of Yusuke's friend Keiko, Yusuke must make a courageous sacrifice. Otherwise, Keiko will join him as another ghost, lingering in haunting permanence...
