'One of the most unpleasant books I have read' - New Straits Times

A Vietnamese prostitute. A taxi driver. A serial killer. A Sydney pimp's fate is somehow linked to the 1957 murders in Malaya. Rake knows that the strange dust storm, which has viciously killed his two friends, is after him. Only Alihuddin, the shaman, can save his life. But can Hazni, the medicine woman, save his soul?

Curse upon curse. Murder upon murder. This is a story of lust and revenge. Of love and fear. With a plot that unwinds and strikes like a cobra, Vermillion Eye, 25th Anniversary Edition is a chiller of a thriller that will shock you to the bone.

About the Author

Tunku Halim is a Malaysian novelist, short story, non-fiction writer and lawyer. His novel Vermillion Eye was a study text at the National University of Singapore. By delving into Malay myth, legends and folklore, his writing is regarded as 'World Gothic'. His novel, Last Breath, is seen as taking a step away from the genre into 'a mixture of character drama, satire, alternate history, and magic realism'.
